Michael A. Marando, Esq.

Experienced New York Personal Injury Lawyer

Michael A. Marando, Esq. is a nationally recognized trial attorney whose track record of helping secure over $350 million in settlements and verdicts in just a few years has quickly distinguished himself among the nation’s top young trial attorneys — an achievement that earned him a coveted place on the National Trial Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40.

Michael is trusted with some of the firm’s most high-stake and challenging cases, where his ability to untangle complex liability issues has directly led to some of the firm’s most notable trial victories and settlements.

Michael has been consistently recognized for his excellence in the courtroom. He has been consecutively named a Super Lawyer and was selected by the National Trial Lawyers as a Top 40 Under 40 Trial Lawyer — an invitation-only honor awarded to the most qualified trial attorneys who demonstrate exceptional skill, results, and reputation.

Michael’s litigation experience spans a wide range of catastrophic injury cases, including construction accidents, premises liability, motor vehicle collisions, and defective products.

His first major case as an attorney involved a complex products liability lawsuit against a Fortune 500 national home improvement retailer and a well-known global power tool manufacturer. In that case, his client was catastrophically injured when an orbital sander malfunctioned, causing the internal rotating fan disc to eject from its casing and strike his client in the eye. Through aggressive discovery, Michael uncovered evidence of similar incidents across the country, ultimately conducting depositions of individuals involved in those cases nationwide. This early case established his reputation as an unrelenting advocate unafraid to take on corporate giants.

Michael has successfully tried cases across the country through Pro Hac Vice admissions, showcasing his ability to advocate for his injured clients in courts beyond New York.

Some of Michael’s $350 million in settlements and verdicts include:

  • $14,850,000 jury verdict in Kings County for a 65-year-old construction worker who injured his left knee and right ankle in a scaffold fall. The highest settlement offer before the verdict was $3.5 million.

  • $12,166,409 jury verdict for a bicyclist struck by a bus in Brooklyn. The plaintiff suffered abdominal injuries and injuries to three fingers. Defendants made no offer before the trial and hired 7 doctors to testify that the injuries sustained were simply “road rash”. The jury rejected this narrative entirely.

  • $7,000,000 verdict in Queens County for a woman who injured her ankle after slipping on water leaking from an AC unit inside her own store. Although the lease placed maintenance duties on the tenant, Michael successfully argued that the landlord bore responsibility for the latent defect. The jury deliberated for just 7 minutes before returning a full liability verdict. The $7,000,000 award was exclusively for past pain and suffering, far exceeding the defense’s final offer of $750,000.

  • $5,300,000 settlement for a New York City construction worker injured while working on a baker scaffold. The plaintiff fell due to unsafe site conditions in violation of Labor Law.

  • $6,117,249 jury verdict following a rear-end collision in which the plaintiff sustained a neck injury. Despite no visible vehicle damage and no lost time from work, the jury awarded full compensation based on the medical evidence presented. The defense never increased their minimal pre-trial offer.

  • $5,000,000 settlement for an HVAC technician who fell 20 feet due to missing safety anchors, a clear violation of Labor Law §240(1). Michael’s client required elbow surgery. Michael developed a personal connection with his client—bonding over their Brooklyn roots and mutual love for Manchester United—which made the case especially meaningful.

Michael’s dedication to justice extends beyond the courtroom. He is actively involved in community outreach and charity efforts. Most recently, he partnered with the Life of Hope Foundation to organize a holiday toy drive, donating hundreds of gifts to children across Brooklyn.

A passionate advocate, Michael began honing his trial skills during law school as a nationally recognized competitor in Moot Court and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He was widely praised for his opening statements and cross-examinations in elite competitions.

Prior to his legal career, Michael was a standout student-athlete. He captained the Fordham University Division I Football Team, where he still holds records for most field goals and points scored by a kicker in school and conference history. He brings that same discipline, grit, and focus to every case he handles.
